Crochet Art Or Hobby
Posted by admin on September 23rd, 2009 filed in UncategorizedAs a hobby or as an art crochet is probably the easiest technique for making fabrics. It consists of drawing a series of loops through previously made loops in a continuous thread. The crocheting process can be done with the fingers alone, but it is generally done with a crochet hook. This allows for finer and more intricate work to be done much quicker and is much more comfortable.
Crochet is a relatively cheap pastime as there are no expensive tools or items required to start. A few balls of yarn, scissors, tape measure, a blunt ended wool/yarn needle for sewing seams and darning ends is enough to get you making your first crochet item.
Just like other hobbies and pastimes crochet does have it’s own language. Of course it is possible to crochet without knowing any of it, but if you want to be able to follow instructions and techniques or be able to particpate with others in designs then you will need to learn it. There is no need to commit it to memory all at once just pick them up as you go along. There are also symbols which represent the various stitches visually.
The beginner will benefit from the myriad of crochet books and videos on a variety of stitches and simple patterns before moving on to more complicated and intricate patterns, whilst the more experienced at crochet will often come up with amazing patterns and designs of their own.
