Sometimes it’s maddening trying to find the perfect home because that perfect home does not exist. Many of us dream about some made-up, perfect property with a lake and trees and a big city nearby yet no neighbors in site. It’s peaceful. It’s beautiful. You’ve searched for it forever.

Well, guess what? It doesn’t exist. But there are hundreds of places that are almost as perfect. That’s what you should be looking for. Maybe it doesn’t have the lake. Maybe it has a few neighbors or is near a smaller town than you want, but it’s still a nice place.

Unless your dream apartment or home is based off of somewhere you’ve seen or somewhere you’ve lived before, the chances of finding it are not likely. Not to mention the price is usually out of range for most of us. But hey! You can afford that apartment that’s slightly less than perfect.

Thinking about your next place to live with this mindset will make the whole process a lot less stressful. For one thing, you won’t be looking forever. Your "ideal" place will be easier to find if it’s not so fictional. And these less-than-perfect apartments can actually be very fancy places to live. You can still find the perfect number of bathrooms and bedrooms and the right number of acres you want to live on. You can still have a great view. You just might have to do some remodeling or you might have to live further into the country than you’d planned or closer to the city than you originally wanted.

Flexibility is a big part of living stress free. You will also be in a better mindset because you’ll know what you are want, and you will be able to find it. That can only bring you happiness.
